Springtime In New York City and Canal Street

Spring is in the air!  Old Man Winter is fighting his way trying to hold on.  We had snow last week, but it was gone a day later under a moderately warm sun.  Then some warmer rain followed and its all gone now.  Back in my sometimes mispent youthful days, this was the time when we would head down to Canal Street during school lunch hours or over the weekends to try to strike deals with the venders in the area.  Back in the late 1970's and '80's, you used to be able to negociate a good deal.  You actually still can, but everything is done a little differly with the stores.  Back in the day you could nogeciate right there on the sidewalk from one vendor to the next.  There weren't as many "storefronts" as there was sidewalk dealers.  Now...you have to do things kind of indoors.

However, we used to pick up the hottest and trendiest spring/summer t shirts, jeans, sneakers and jewlery back in those days.  I'm sure they still do it now...but...it just isn't the same.  Fun times my Canal Street friends!  Go get your shop on!
